CAPE TOWN - One of the world's most recognisable entrepreneurs, Sir Richard Branson, has confirmed that he will be participating in this year's Pick ‘n Pay Cape Argus Cycle Tour.

The race is one of the world's largest and has over the year's regularly featured big international names.

Race Director Dave Bellairs said that having the Chairman of the Virgin Group on board was a major coup for them.

“We received confirmation from Virgin Active that Sir Richard Branson will participate in the 2013 edition of the Cape Argus Pick ‘n Pay Cycle Tour. It’s very exciting. We’ve had famous movie stars, sports people and now a businessman.”

The race will start in Hertzog Boulevard at the Cape Town Civic Centre following a 110km long route.

It will take riders onto the N2, down the M3 along the False Bay Coast past the entrance to the Cape of Good Hope, along the Atlantic coast, over Suikerbossie Hill and on to the Cape Town Stadium in Green Point.

The race will take place on 10 March.
