Proteas beat Pakistan by 211 runs

JOHANNESBURG - South Africa beat Pakistan by 211 runs in the first test at the Wanderers on Monday.

In a landmark test for skipper Graeme Smith, the Proteas showed why they are the best team in the world.

South Africa dominated Pakistan from start to finish, dictating terms with both bat and ball.

Pakistan set a target of 480, with 268 all out to see the Proteas to a 211-run victory.

Dale Steyn finished with 11 wickets, his fifth test match 10-wicket haul.

AB de Villiers, with 11 dismissals, equaled the world record for the most dismissals in a match.

South Africa is 1-0 up in the three-test series.

The second test starts in Cape Town on February 14.
