Henning killers 'snorted drugs'
Chanelle Henning’s murderer testified in court that he was commissioned to kill the Pretoria mother.
PRETORIA - The North Gauteng High Court on Thursday heard how Chanelle Henning's would-be killers struck up a friendship while gambling and drinking at a pub, five months before the murder.
He said when du Plessis told him he was cop, he said it did not matter because they did drugs together. Months later, the two friends would gun down Henning, allegedly after being commissioned by Monye and Gouws. Both du Plessis and Pieterse have been convicted for the crime.
Convicted murderer Willem Pieterse testified against Ambrose Monye and Andre Gouws.
Monye and Gouws face murder charges for the death of Henning, who was shot dead moments after dropping off her son at school in Faerie Glen, Pretoria, in November 2011.
Gouws is a friend of Chanelle’s estranged husband and a “person of interest” in the case, Nico Henning.
Pieterse said the night he met disgraced policeman Gerhadus du Plessis, the pair drank and snorted drugs together.
Pieterse said the first time he saw Gouws, he gave Monye R600 and he was told to buy a firearm.
He said he chose a .38 special instead of a 9mm because a revolver does not eject cartridges, which could be used as evidence.
He said when du Plessis told him he was cop, he said it did not matter because they did drugs together.
Months later, the two friends would gun down Henning, allegedly after being commissioned by Monye and Gouws.
Both du Plessis and Pieterse have been convicted for the crime.Earlier this week, Pieterse told the court it was Monye who introduced him to Gouws, who wanted Henning murdered.
