MARIKANA - A rhino was on Monday found dead at the Finfoot Lake Reserve in the North West.

It brings the number of rhinos recently killed at the game reserve to eight.

The seven others were found on the grounds over the weekend.

An anti-poaching team found the rhino cow just after 6am, while patrolling the reserve.

Game farm officials say she was one of the oldest cows on the farm and that the killing had left her one-year-old calf orphaned.

The latest incident comes as a task team from the Hawks is making its way to the farm to investigate the latest killings.

More than 500 rhino have been killed since the beginning of the year.
