JOHANNESBURG - John Mitchell on Saturday told Eyewitness News Sport he will report to work as the Lions head coach next week and is not departing for the UK.

In keeping with a statement from the Golden Lions Rugby Union, he dismissed UK based reports that he will join the Sale Sharks within days as media speculation.

The Guardian website quoted Sale CEO Steve Diamond as stating Mitchell is negotiating his way out in South Africa and he is set to join them in the next 48 to 72 hours.

Lions CEO Ruben Moggee said reports that Mitchell will leave this weekend are false.

Mitchell was suspended by Lions in June following complaints from some players.

The union then launched an investigation into the matter which found Mitchell not guilty.
