JOHANNESBURG - Lions assistant coach Johan Ackermann on Tuesday expressed his confident that the players will react positively to John Mitchell returning to the union.
Mitchell returned to work this week after facing a lengthy disciplinary hearing following complaints from various players.
Ackermann was in charge of the side during Mitchell’s absence.
He said there are a lot of new players at the Lions that were not even involved in the saga.
“We’ve got a lot of new faces. We have eight signings and those players do not carry any baggage. They are quite keen; we can see that in the way they train and the way they respond.”
The former Springbok lock said he expected those who were present when Mitchell was suspended, to be mature enough to put their issues behind them.
“A lot of the players who are here were not involved directly with the cases against John [Mitchell] and those that were I think are professional enough to put that aside and work with him.”
