CAPE TOWN – Train commuters in Cape Town’s southern suburbs could soon enjoy faster and more punctual trips.
Metrorail is nearly done replacing all wooden railway sleepers with concrete ones between the Muizenberg and Simonstown stations.
The rail operator also installed new rails along the Kalk Bay stretch of railway.
Metrorail Regional Manager Mthuthuzeli Swartz says both projects are set to be completed in December.
“The users of the southern line can now look forward to a much quicker service.”
The company has been in the news in recent months for its poor service and security.
It has since promised to improve its services.
