MIDRAND - President Jacob Zuma on Thursday said he will continue to foster business relations between South Africa and the Republic of Turkey.

He made the comments while attending the official opening of the Nizamiye Complex in Midrand, north of Johannesburg on Thursday.

The complex contains the largest mosque in the Southern hemisphere.

The centre also opened its new public clinic named after former president Nelson Mandela.

The massive minarets of the Nizamiye Mosque loomed overhead as Zuma officially opened the complex.

The mosque has already been operating for the last four months.

But the centre's clinic and restaurants are set to start servicing the community in the coming few weeks.

The complex has been under construction for the past three years.

Zuma told the Turkish and South African delegates that he embraced Turkey as a business and cultural partner.

He said the centre was a symbol of the prosperous relationship between the two countries.
