JOHANNESBURG - Police on Thursday called off the search for the body of a man believed to have been dumped in the Bruma Lake, east of Johannesburg.

Dennilton Leforte went missing in July.

Nigerian national Charles Williams was arrested for Leforte’s disappearance and appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court.

In September, police divers started searching Bruma Lake after Williams confessed to murdering Leforte and dumping his body in the water.

Police spokesperson Lungelo Dlamini said they are now following other leads.

“We drained the dam but we could not find the body.”
