JOHANNESBURG - In the spirit of International Day of Older Persons on Monday, President Jacob Zuma said on Sunday they should be recognised for the wisdom added in bringing the nation together.
Zuma was speaking at a luncheon in Pretoria where he said, this was a special day for all the country's struggle veterans.
International Day of Older Persons will be celebrated globally on Monday, honouring the world's seniors.
Presidency spokesperson Mac Maharaj said, those who attended came from all parts of the country.
“He took note that the elders possess wisdom and experience that the country needs and called upon them to share this experience and wisdom.
“He called upon the senior citizens to actively engage and teach our young people.”
