HARARE - Zimbabwe Prime Minister (PM) Morgan Tsvangirai's marriage fiasco played into the hands of his opponents, with President Robert Mugabe's spokesperson accusing him of "killing the country’s sense of morality".
Spokesperson Nathaniel Manheru, who pens a weekly column in state media, said Tsvangirai "trampled on women's rights".
Online reports said Tsvangirai and ex-partner Locadia Tembo will now deal with their divorce privately.
But it will be hard for the PM to let go of the damage this very public storm over his relationship has caused.
Manheru said Tsvangirai now has many enemies within his own Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) party.
Tsvangirai's supporters have highlighted the personal failings of some top Zanu-PF officials, but Manheru said those in power should know how to cover up their tracks.
