Coetzee wary of Griquas

Western Province coach Allister Coetzee says they will not underestimate the Griquas at Newlands.
CAPE TOWN - Western Province coach Allister Coetzee on Friday said the Griquas possess a side capable of giving them a run for their money at Newlands.

The men from Kimberley are on a roll, seeking a fourth win on the trot.

But they face province at home, having last beaten Province at Newlands in 1911.

Coetzee said they looking to keep that record intact.

“We’re up against a good quality Griquas side. However, this game is very important for us. We want to get back to winning ways again.”

Coetzee said Griquas must constantly be put under pressure.

“We have to focus on our game and just apply pressure from start to finish.”

Province is third in the Currie Cup log while the Griquas are fourth.

The game kicks off at 3pm

In another action, the Blue Bulls will play the Cheetahs in Pretoria.

Kickoff is 5:05pm.
