JOHANNESBURG - A Muldersdrift man who was shot dead by robbers will be laid to rest Friday, but his family still wants to know why he was not operated on.

Andre Jordaan (50) died on Saturday at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto.

A gang of robbers last week ambushed the Jordaan family while they were sitting outside their Muldersdrift home.

Jordaan was shot seven times as he attempted to flee.

His brother Jean Pierre said the Soweto hospital told them his brother did not need to undergo surgery.

He said doctors told the family Andre was in a stable condition.

Jean Pierre said the family still wants answers about his death.

The shooting came just a week after 13-year-old Alyssa Botha was gunned down, and her father and sister wounded, by robbers.

Residents from the Muldersdrift suburb call it the “Wild West”, because of the many shootings in the area.
