CAPE TOWN - A Southern Cape farmer was on Saturday found murdered in her Potsteel-Hoogte farmhouse in Hamelkop.
Police spokesperson Malcolm Pojie said Ria Mills was found dead in her lounge, with a gunshot wound to the neck.
Concerned friends alerted police when the 65-year-old missed a dinner appointment yesterday.
A firearm was found abandoned near her body, and police will run it through ballistic tests to determine whether it was used in the murder.
Pojie said the assailants fled in Mills’ vehicle, which was recovered near the Wolwedans Dam on Sunday.
The deceased’s iPad, laptop and handbag were also stolen, he added.
