JOHANNESBURG - Three-year-old Pippie Kruger is ready to be discharged from Netcare's Rehabilitation Hospital after ten weeks of physical and occupational therapy, doctors confirmed on Thursday.

The toddler suffered burns to 80 percent of her body after a bottle of fire gel exploded during a family braai on New Year’s Eve.

Pippie was given cloned skin grafts earlier this year, a first in South Africa.

Just one small wound on Pippie's neck still needed to close, but doctors said the skin grafts had taken splendidly.

The toddler still is a long way from a full recovery, but her doctors are pleased with the progress.

She will be living in her mother's flat in Linden from Friday.

Pippie still needs to make daily visits to the rehabilitation hospital for several months to come.
