CAPE TOWN – South African motorists should not get used to the 93 cent petrol price hike just yet.

Instead they should brace themselves for the possibility that the petrol price could rise by another 20 cents next month.

While the price of petrol rose by 93 cents a litre last night, diesel went up by 69 cents a litre and paraffin 73 cents a litre.

These are the biggest fuel price hikes in South African history.

Financial planner Craig Shelly said tough times lie ahead for consumers.

“We’re all impacted by the fuel price increase. The extra 20 cent increase will really take us over the edge. This is going to hurt.”
