JOHANNESBURG - Outgoing National Consumer Commissioner Mamodupi Mohlala-Mulaudzi on Monday said she did a sterling job in her position, despite the fact her contract was not renewed.
Her term officially ended on Monday.
Mohlala-Mulaudzi wanted to stay on in her position, but after losing her case in the Labour Court, Trade and Industry Minister Rob Davies told her she could not do so.
The outgoing commissioner said, “We created jobs for the unemployed youth. We also created expertise and skills, which is a very critical achievement.”
Mohlala-Mulaudzi had approached the court on three occasions.
Davies sent her a letter to inform her she would not be hired for the position automatically, because he wanted the process of hiring people to be open and competitive.
