MONTECASINO - South Africa's first ever MasterChef will swop his computer skills for a life in the culinary world.

IT specialist Deena Naidoo won the prestigious title on Tuesday evening after he survived an intense 18-week spell in the kitchen.

Shortly after being announced winner of the reality television cooking competition, Naidoo said participating in MasterChef was a life-changing experience.

“It was really, for me, a journey of passion that I embarked on. I really didn’t go for the prizes… I really mean that sincerely.”

Naidoo and runner-up Sue-Anne Allen went up against each other in a three-part cook-off - but it was Naidoo who impressed the most.

The MasterChef took home R8 million worth of prizes, including a restaurant and the cash prize of R250, 000.
