EMMARENTIA - More than 15, 000 walkers will put their running shoes to tar on Sunday, at the Discovery 702 Walk the Talk race.

The 30 and 15 kilometre (km) races kicked-off at 7am at the Marks Park Stadium in Emmarentia, Johannesburg.

The 8 km race will start at 9am, while the 5 km race is expected to start at 11am.

Lebogang Shange, a professional walker and last year's 30 km race winner spoke to Talk Radio 702.

He says he hopes to finish Sunday’s 30 km walk in 2 hours, 30 minutes.

He previously won the 15 km race and hopes today will win him his third gold medal.

Loads of activity is expected at the stadium through-out the day as families and their pets participate in the fun walks.

Many have called today’s gathering a meeting of the neighbours – as Johannesburg residents take back their city from criminals.
