CAPE TOWN - Manchester United arrived in the Mother City on Friday to a frenzied welcome from supporters and soccer enthusiasts.

The English side jetted in for their sold out clash against Ajax Cape Town on Saturday.

Fans could not contain themselves when Manchester United arrived at the airport from Durban, with many screaming the names of the favourite players.

Coach Alex Ferguson said he was happy to be in Cape Town and pleased with the support.

Players signed autographs and took pictures with fans.

The English side will train at Cape Town Stadium later on Friday.

Saturday's match will kick off at 3pm.

United started their pre-season tour of South Africa with a 1-0 defeat over Amazulu at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Wednesday evening.
