JOHANNESBURG - Johannesburg metro police have identified an officer who committed suicide as 48-year-old Robert Moeketsi.
He was a superintendent in the Midrand area.
His body was discovered early on Thursday morning.
The metro police's Wayne Minnaar says the reason for the suicide remains a mystery.
“It is really shocking. It is not a nice feeling to lose a colleague and someone you have worked with.”
Moeketsi commanded around 35 officers, all of whom are shocked by his death.
His wife is a teacher who was away at their family home in Hammanskraal but is now on her way back.
Moeketsi had served in Midrand for almost 20 years.
