LIMPOPO - A scuffle broke out on Tuesday ahead of President Jacob Zuma's address at a church in Thohoyandou, Limpopo.

The president is expected to deliver the African National Congress (ANC)’s centenary lecture on Nelson Mandela to hundreds of locals.

Pro and anti-Zuma supporters were singing songs when the violence broke out.

Zuma supporters sang songs in his honour, when those against him sang the infamous ‘change’ song.

Many of the anti-Zuma supporters are believed to be backers of Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe.

All hell broke loose when members of the Umkhonto we Sizwe Military Veterans Association (MKMVA) started beating up the supporters.

A number of people were trampled on, kicked and punched.

Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa said the culprits should be embarrassed.

“The problem started when people started singing derogatory songs.”

Earlier, Zuma visited the Royal residence.

Limpopo is expelled ANC Youth League leader Julius Malema’s home province.
