CAPE TOWN - Big Concerts on Tuesday told Eyewitness News it was busy negotiating with US rockers Red Hot Chili Peppers to come to South Africa, in 2013.

Twitter has been abuzz with unconfirmed news that the funk rock band will perform in Africa.

The Chilli Pepper’s drummer Chad Smith earlier tweeted they will be jetting to Africa in February as part of a world tour.

Big Concerts’ CEO Attie van Wyk kindly refused an interview, but he did reveal he is in London, where he is busy negotiating with the band’s management.

He also warned it would be premature to make an announcement at this stage.
