JOHANNESBURG - A swimmer, who claimed to be part of the Olympic team, has pleaded guilty in court on Monday.
The 20-year-old and his father were arrested for speeding on the N1 highway in Pretoria on Sunday.
The men were driving 188 and 234 km per hour in two Porsche GT3s.
The swimmer allegedly tried to his lie his way out of arrest by claiming to be an Olympian.
Gauteng traffic police's Busaphi Nxumalo said, “The swimmer has pleaded guilty to the charges laid against him for reckless, negligent and inconsiderate driving.
“He pleaded guilty and was fined R1,500.”
The young man's father will appear in court on Tuesday.
Traffic police are considering laying further charges against the men for misleading officials.
