CAPE TOWN - Premier Soccer League (PSL) rookies Chippa United on Monday named Manqoba Mngqithi as the club's new coach.

The former Golden Arrows trainer takes over from Roger Sikhakhane, who vacated the position due to family commitments.

Mngqithi signed an indefinite long-term contract with the Chilli Boys.

He said he was excited by the new challenge.

"I've watched most of their games and I liked what I saw. I know most of their players, so that should help."

Mngqithi said he has no plans to draft in big-name players any time soon.

"There are many young players that are hungry to play in the PSL. I just need to get few experienced players to help them out."

The new PSL season kicks off in August.
