JOHANNESBURG - Vodacom will welcome a new CEO from September, as current CEO Pieter Uys will be stepping down after an extended handover process.
The new CEO, Shameel Joosub, who previously served as managing director of Vodacom South Africa, is currently heading Vodafone Spain.
The company said it is all part of its succession plan.
Vodacom's Maya Makanjee said Joosub knows the company's South African business well.
“We are very, very excited and we believe that this is the right person to run our business as we move forward. He is one of the leading people in the industry and he’s really good at what he’s done.”
Uys, who has been CEO of the telecoms giant for the last four years, will leave Vodacom at the end of March next year.
