JOHANNESBURG - Frans Ludeke on Tuesday admitted his team were desperate for a win against the Sharks.

The Blue Bulls team remained unchanged ahead of their clash in Durban on Friday evening.

The Sharks might be leading the way on the desperation stage with a playoff spot seemingly still in touching distance.

According to Ludeke, that could make Friday's clash very interesting.

“Everybody needs to win, that’s what makes this contest such a special event. Both teams want to be successful. Playing against the Sharks is a physical battle and small things will make the difference on Friday night.”

Many expected Deon Stegmann to return to the starting line up, although Ludeke said he did not want to risk the flanker.

“We don’t want to risk it. It’s going to be a physical battle so you need everybody to be fit.”

Lock Wilhelm Steenkamp and hooker Chiliboy Ralepelle both stand to earn their 50th Super Rugby caps on Friday.

Captain Pierre Spies praised their hard work and commitment to the Union.

“They’ve been great players. We’re very happy for them.”

The Bulls are currently fourth in the Super Rugby log while the Sharks are in eighth place.

Kickoff is 7:10pm at Kings Park Stadium.
