JOHANNESBURG - South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) President Gideon Sam told Eyewitness News on Wednesday that he is not having sleepless nights over the terror threats coming out of London ahead of the Olympic Games.
Officially, Wednesday marks one month until the sporting spectacle gets underway.
Britain’s Security Agency MI5 spoke out against potential terrorist threats.
Director-General Jonathan Evans said the Games present an attractive target because they will be the centre of the world’s attention.
Sam said the threats need to be considered.
“We take it in our stride. This is what happens normally closer to the Games.
"But we need to take precautions."
South African athletes are currently in Benin for the All Africa Games trying to secure last minute qualification.
