CAPE TOWN - New Nashua Mobile Cobras coach Paul Adams on Tuesday said he knows what Western Province cricket is looking for.

Adams has taken over from Richard Pybus, who resigned last season.

This is his first senior coaching role.

Chief Executive Officer Andre Odendaal admitted the appointment was risky, but Adams believes he has the experience.

“Being involved with the Western Cape cricket for the past 17 years has really helped. He has worked with some of the best coaches around the world.”

The former Proteas spin bowler said his youth will also help him understand players better.

“I understand what the modern player is going through and the pressures they’re under. I’ll use my experience as a player in my new position.”

Adams retired from international cricket in 2008.
