JOHANNESBURG - About 200 people from the Goodhope Informal Settlement in Germiston marched to the Ekurhuleni Civic Centre on Tuesday, to protest against poor service delivery.
Demonstrators blocked a main road earlier.
They handed over a memorandum of demands to a member of the Ekurhuleni mayoral committee.
Police are keeping a close eye on a group of singing protestors who are marching back home.
Mayoral committee member for Environmental Development Vuyelwa Mabena accepted a memorandum of demands from the residents, which included access to water, electricity and housing.
Mabena undertook the responsibility to respond to the community's grievances within 14 days.
However, some protestors said they are skeptical and tired of empty promises.
