JOHANNESBURG - Neighbours on Wednesday lashed out a Soweto man who allegedly ignited a fire which claimed the lives of his three young sons.

It is alleged the man locked himself and his family inside their Zola home on Tuesday night and set it alight.

The couple, who survived the fire, had been fighting.

A furious neighbour said, “We don’t expect him to come back here if he gets bail because he deserves to rot in jail. If he comes back here, the community will kill him."

Police said once the man recovered from his burn wounds in hospital, he will be arrested to face charges of murder and attempted murder.

The mother is in hospital recovering from her injuriesl.

Earlier this month a man was arrested arrested for murdering his two children at their home in Village Heights near Muizenberg in the Cape.

The children were aged two and three.

The suspect also tried to commit suicide and was placed under police guard in hospital.

Shocked residents watched pathology staff carry the two small bodies out of the shack on a single stretcher, leaving the community reeling.
