CAPE TOWN – There has been a significant increase in new car sales over May, the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa (Naamsa) said on Monday.

On average, some 34,000 cars were sold every month.

That figure jumped to 40,000 in May.

Wesbank Vehicle Finance’s Chris de Kok said, “Interest rates remain at historical low levels.”

He said this was driving increased demand.
