CAPE TOWN - The case against 12 Hawks members facing several charges, including murder, was postponed on Friday to August in the Western Cape High Court.

The charges against the officers relate to the 2009 kidnapping, torture and murder of Sidwell Mkwambi, a 24-year-old New Crossroads resident.

The officers allegedly kidnapped, assaulted and tortured Mkwambi and two of his friends.

Mkwambi died but his friends survived.

He was driven to the mortuary in a police van but police claim he jumped from a moving vehicle.

Earlier in May, Independent Police Investigative Directorate spokesperson Moses Dlamini said, “We conducted an investigation and the policemen will be appearing in court.”
