CAPE TOWN - President Jacob Zuma on Thursday said there is a need to balance all rights in the Constitution.
The president was replying to his budget vote debate in Parliament.
He was taken to task for not protecting the rights of artist Brett Murray.
Murray's painting The Spear saw an outcry of emotion from ANC supporters.
There has also been criticism of the violation of the right to expression for artists in the country.
Zuma the painting to the indignity forced on a famous khoisan woman Sarah Baartman.
“We do not want it to reopen the wounds of the humiliation of Sarah Baartman whose genitals and brain were stored in a pickle jar and shown off in a museum.”
The controversial image by Murray depicted Zuma with his private parts exposed.
