CAPE TOWN - As the country marks the start of Child Protection Week this Sunday, Bonnievale police are investigating the murder of a boy (6), who was reported missing on Friday.
After being questioned, a 16-year-old suspect, who was the last person to be seen with the victim, led police to the Breede River.
The victim's naked body was found 13 hours after he disappeared.
Police spokesperson November Filander said the boy was found with a belt around his neck.
He said the teenager was arrested and a murder docket opened.
Police are investigating the motive behind the murder, Filander added.
The teenager is expected to appear at the Bonnievale Magistrates’ Court on Monday, facing a charge of murder.
