Santos prepare for PSL playoffs
Santos coach said his team must accept the fact that they will be in the promotion relegation playoffs.
CAPE TOWN - Santos coach Mart Nooij on Saturday said his team must accept the fact that they will be in the promotion relegation playoffs.
Their 1-0 win over Jomo Cosmos at Athlone Stadium was not enough to secure their top flight status after Black Leopards stunned Ajax Cape Town with a 3-1 win.
This meant Bheki Shabangu's 47th minute goal counted for nothing for the People's Team.
Santos did exactly what they needed to do but it was not enough.
Nooij made it clear his team had no choice but to bounce back ahead of the playoffs.
The draw will be done later on Sunday, once the final day of on the National First Division is completed.
Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates were crowned Premier Soccer League (PSL) champions following their victory over Golden Arrows at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
The Bucs became the first side in the current PSL era to snatch a treble.
Moroka Swallows were the runner-ups following their 1-0 victory over Maritzburg United.
