JOHANNESBURG - Police will raid drug dens in Johannesburg this week, where teenage girls are believed to be lured in, given drugs and used as sex slaves.
The raids come after the disappearance of Beranice Links (16), who went missing earlier this month, in Coronationville.
Links was last seen when she left her sister’s house, in the western Johannesburg suburb.
On Friday, police raided two homes in Kliptown, Soweto. Officers received a tip-off that the girl was in the area.
The spokesperson for the Links family, Ronnelle Johnson-Hoskins, said she was hopeful that the girl would return home soon, because police raids have been successful in the past.
She said a possible lead revealed that the missing girl was recently seen at a drug den, also known as a lolly lounge, in Kliptown.
Johnson-Hoskins said 10 teenagers were rescued from various Johannesburg lolly lounges in recent weeks.
