JOHANNESBURG - The African National Congress (ANC) on Thursday said it will go to court to force the Goodman Gallery to remove a picture of President Jacob Zuma.

The portrait depicts the president with his private parts hanging from his trousers.

ANC spokesperson Jackson Mthembu said they are outraged by this picture because it violates the president's dignity.

“You can’t incite and depict any South African in a manner that dents the country’s image.”

Mthembu said the removal of the portrait is not infringing on the artist’s freedom of expression.

“This is abuse of the freedom of expression,” he said.

The ANC also wants the City Press to remove the picture from its website.
