CAPE TOWN - Twelve Hawks officers are set to appear in the Bellville Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
The police officers face multiple charges including, torture, assault and murder.
The group is reportedly responsible for the death of 24-year-old New Crossroads resident Sidwell Mkwambi in 2009.
Mkwambi was allegedly tortured to death and driven to the mortuary in a police van.
Police claimed he died by jumping from a moving vehicle.
Independent Police Investigative Directorate Moses Dlamini said, “We conducted an investigation and the policemen will be appearing in court.”
