CAPE TOWN - The two South Africans accused in the Anni Dewani murder case will stand trial in July, with or without Shrien Dewani.

The British businessman is accused of masterminding his wife's murder while on honeymoon in Cape Town during 2010.

Xolile Mngeni and Mziwamadoda Qwabe appeared for a pre-trial conference on Friday.

Judge Andre le Grange asked the state if the third accused, Shrien Dewani, will be part of the trial.

Prosecutors told the judge that Dewani will only return to South Africa once he is mentally fit, as per a ruling by a UK court.

The case was postponed until next Friday because Qwabe’s lawyer needs more time to consult with him.

Qwabe’s original lawyer withdrew from the case for financial reasons.
