Hire people with disabilities - Xingwana

Government and the private sector have until 31 March 2013 to employ more people with disabilities.

CAPE TOWN - Government and the private sector have until 31 March 2013 to employ more people with disabilities.

The deadline was set by Minister of Women, Children and People with Disabilities Lulu Xingwana on Friday.

Xingwana, who delivered her budget vote in Parliament earlier, recently came under attack from the
Democratic Alliance for not doing enough for the disabled.

Xingwana said government and companies must meet the two percent target.

“We will report back to the nation on how both sectors have responded to this imperative as we finalise the review of the National Disability Policy.”
