ROODEPOORT - The two women at the centre of a racist twitter row apologised for what they said  on Thursday.

Their explosive tweets sparked a bout of complaints to the Human Rights Commission.

The pair met with Democratic Alliance (DA) spokesperson Mmusi Maimane at his Roodepoort home to discuss the issue as part of a reconciliation attempt.

Model Jessica Leandra dos Santos caused a stir when she used the ‘k’ word in a tweet to describe an altercation she had with a black man in a supermarket.

“I’m aware of the severity of the word that I used. I do extend my sincere apololgies."

Marketing student Tshidi Thamane responded to the white model’s tweet by calling for white people to be killed.

She said she did not mean any harm.

“I don’t wish death on anyone of any race of sorts, whether white or black or coloured. I don’t wish that upon anyone.”

The pair have agreed to take part in a project to show they are committed to building a non-racial South Africa.
