JOHANNESBURG - Kwaito musician Brown Dash was remembered by artists and fans on Thursday morning.
He passed away on Wednesday from an unknown illness.
The musician, whose real name is Siphiwe Mpamile, died at the Chris Hani Baragwanath hospital in Soweto.
He was reportedly in and out of hospital since 2010 when he was diagnosed with pneumonia.
His wife died in 2011.
Social networks were abuzz on Wednesday with news of his passing.
One person tweeted that, "Dash would live forever through his music".
The artist made one of his last public appearances at the South African Music Awards at Sun City two weeks ago.
The Kwaito star hit the big time in 2003 with his breakthrough album "Puff 'n Pass".
