JOHANNESBURG - A Cape Town photographer who is suing Sir Elton John for allegedly plagiarising the lyrics to the hit song Nikita said on Tuesday he has a strong case against the music mogul.
Guy Hobbs claims he wrote the lyrics in the early 80s following a relationship with a Russian waitress called Natasha.
Hobbs said he was surprised to hear the song on the radio in 1985, as several publishing companies failed to accept his lyrics.
After writing to John several times without receiving a response, he has decided to take the matter to court.
“Over the years my case gets stronger and stronger," said Hobbs.
“I have experts that say I have a good case."
