Roy Padayachie dies

Public Service and Administration Minister Roy Padayachie died on Saturday morning.

It has been confirmed that Public Service and Administration Minister Roy Padayachie passed away on Saturday morning.

The 62-year-old was attending an official meeting in Addis Ababa in Ethiopia.

It is not clear at this point how he died.

Before becoming a Public Service and Administration Minister, Padayachie had been the Minister of Communications.

He had served as the deputy minister in that department for several years.

Presidential spokesperson Mac Maharaj said, “He passed away last night in Addis Ababa. He was attending to work relating to the African Union. We will release further details as it comes to hand.”
