CAPE TOWN - University of the Western Cape Professor Sean Davison has for the first time spoken out about the closed door part of his trial.

Davison stood trial in New Zealand for assisting his mother to commit suicide.

He was caring for his mother, Patricia, who had been diagnosed with cancer.

Davison returned to his post at the University of the Western Cape on Friday.

He spoke about what happened when the media and the jury were excluded from his trial.

“For the whole day the prosecutor and my lawyer argued about the last hour of my mother’s life.”

Davison said the prosecution dissected all his actions.

“The final question I asked her when I gave her this drink of morphine she requested was asking her if she knew this would end her life. Her response was that I was a wonderful son.”
