JOHANNESBURG - A manhunt has been launched by police, for a priest who allegedly raped a 10-year-old girl during a night prayer in Braamfischerville, Soweto.
The incident allegedly happened on April 14, but the girl only reported the incident to police on Friday.
Police spokesperson Kay Makhubele said the girl was afraid to tell her parents of the incident.
But she confessed to her sister recently, who then accompanied her to open a case against the man.
Officers said the priest was not at his house when they went to question him.
Meanwhile, Soweto police arrested a man in the early hours of Saturday, who is accused of drugging and raping a woman in Jabulani township.
Officers were patrolling in the area, when they saw the man raping the woman. She was unconscious and laying in the veld.
The woman (27), was taken to a nearby hospital.
She has regained consciousness, but medical practitioners do not know which drug the alleged attacker used on his victim.
These incidents come a month after seven Soweto youths were arrested for allegedly raping a girl thought to be mentally disabled.
The alleged rape was caught on mobile video.
