JOHANNESBURG - Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa on Friday moved to clarify cover-up allegations against Crime Intelligence boss Richard Mdluli.
In a statement released by the minister, he said claims were unfounded and must be dismissed.
Mthethwa said the Inspector General of Intelligence Faith Radebe is currently investigating.
She is probing the alleged abuse of a secret Crime Intelligence fund.
There are also claims Mdluli used to control phone interceptions.
Mthethwa said there are clear policies governing various roles, to ensure there is no blurring between the minister and police management.
He said he will not be addressing the matter through the media.
Mthethwa also stressed that he has asked the Auditor General to investigate Mdluli.
