PRETORIA - Gauteng Police Commissioner Mzwandile Petros confirmed during a media briefing on Wednesday that police were not only winning the fight against criminals but also against the corrupt among their own.
He said the police’s commitment to tackling corruption is evident in the arrest of 600 of their colleagues in the last year.
He said management was also dealing with police brutality where the problem is not related to training and brutality but rather the tough nature of the job.
He also succeeded in proving several aspects identified as problems by the community, including visibility, response time and detective work.
In the last year significantly more resources were allocated to investigating crime.
