JOHANNESBURG - Traffic volumes on the N3 between Durban and Johannesburg are expected to peak on Tuesday afternoon.

This is as holidaymakers return home after the long-weekend.

The N3 Toll Concession said traffic is slowly building up on highways.

The concession's Con Roux said there are almost 2,000 cars going through Mooi Plaza.

“The weather conditions are good and there are currently no problems to report.”

Serious delays were experienced at toll plazas on the N1 south between Polokwane and Pretoria, due to large traffic volumes.

The Road Traffic Management Corporation's Ashref Ismail said additional toll gates were opened to alleviate the backlog.
